"Leah, Leah, Leah, my dear sweet Leah, how does your garden grow?"

My true love has my heart, and I have his. Together in marriage, together at heart. In good times and hard. In sickness and in health. For now and forever.

Early Easter (pre move)

Well, I've been super busy (thus my lack of blogging over the past couple of weeks or so... I honestly don't remember the last time I blogged). We move in less than 8 days and I still have so much to do, but I did take the time out this weekend to celebrate Easter early, since I want my kids to have some "normal moments" while being Army Brats, like they should have.

Last night, we had my friend Hobo over for dinner and some beers. I'm going to miss having him so close. He's my oldest friend here (of 8 years) and I won't know anyone at the next post. He's going to come over next weekend for our goodbyes... again.

This morning we had an Easter egg hunt and Lily did better than Jax but they each got 6 chocolate covered marshmellow eggs, one bunny (chocolate, not real!!) and some peeps along with starter fishing poles and frisbees and stickers. Jax got a pez dispencer and Lily got a Bible that I highlighted passages in.

Then we spent the day with the kids outside, me blasting music getting things done and Steve at our storage container, taking pictures of our things before the movers move them. Then we had dinner, sauted scallops, a creole seasoned pork roast done in red wine with veggies, rolls and homemade gravy (out of the red wine/pork juice liquid). It was delish! After dinner, Steve did the dishes (yep, sexy, right?) while I painted eggs with Lily. Jax had such a poor attitude at dinner and was too tired to do anything so he went to bed.

Now, I'm relaxing and trying to figure out what the week holds for me. It's going to be a busy one, that's for sure. Another vet appointment for Luna and Lily has her follow-up with the Dentist (it's all done for her). Our household goods get packed up on Friday and moved on Monday, so we're thinking of having a last bbq with the friends we have here. Just one last hooah with the good people at Fort Polk.

We are going camping on our "vacation" between here and Fort Lost-in-the-Woods and to St. Louis. We got fishing poles and sleeping bags and tents and I've packed up our suitcases already, our first aid kit, I have the kids toys together that we're taking, the pet's things together, including both their kennels and since they are microchiped I have the card for their microchipping too.

I've also been having weird dreams. Last night, I had one where I was pregnant but back in high school... only it wasn't my high school. It was weird. The school nurse was the doc on Stargate SG1 and the counselor was our chaplain here. Steve was there but he was "17" in my dream and I was my own age. Like I said, weird.

Anywho... below are the pictures from today and a few others that I loved. :)

Love,
Leah

My Birthday Weekend

So far this weekend has been incredibly awesome. Last night, Steve took us to dinner at the Catfish Junction, then today, after I went to the salon to get my hair cut and styled (just a trim, I love the length), he took me to the PX where he bought me my birthday present. A Sony Vaio laptop. I love it!! It's so beautiful and works brilliantly. It's got twice as much RAM and Hard drive storage as my other laptop and has an amazing graphics card. :) I love it. So far I've been transferring stuff and it's been wonderfully fast. Needless to say, I am in love... haha.

Then tonight we went to a Halloween party at the VFW where our friends were hanging out. We dressed up, me as a vixen ;) and Steve went as a local aka Native (Cowboy boots, blue jeans, flannel shirt, hunting hat). Becca and Pody were there. They went as a bridezilla and a beaten groom haha. Austin and Kaitie went as eachother. Shorty went as a big baby. Palmer went as himself. And there were others but honestly, I can't remember everyone's names (sorry!!). I had a few jello shots with the girls and a beer before switching to Mountain Dew. I really don't like getting drunk that often but it was lots of fun. We only left because everyone was going to another bar and my corset was killing my ribcage.

Steve just took our sitter home and I'm transferring more files right now. My sitter is awesome. Lily always asks to hang out with her daily (she doesn't realize that she's being babysat for, just that her friend is coming over to play). She likes my movie collection and my book collection. And she's my go-to sitter. I swear, I wouldn't know what to do without such a reliable girl to turn to when I need to get stuff done.

Anyways, I'm going to get off here and go get ready for bed. I'm exhausted and Lunatic is being spastic.

Much love,
for now and forever,

Leah

July 1st, 2011

Happy Canada Day! Well, it's my first one outside of Canada for years and my first Fourth of July weekend in the States after nearly 7 years. I'm super excited. I just wish Steve was home to celebrate also. I've been writing letters and cleaning and getting ready for homecoming. There is still alot to do and I'm not sure how I'm going to get it all done but when push comes to shove, I normally manage to do the things I need to do. Sometimes, I don't even know how.

It is July. July means that next month my Soldier will FINALLY be home after months and months of him being so friggin far away. I'm so grateful he's coming home. I really need my Captain home.

Anyways, I've been super busy and should actually being busy right now but had to take a minute and share. There's been alot on my mind and I'm not really sure how to explain it. All I know is that somehow I feel like things are hanging in the balance. Yea, that's a good explanation.

Well, I'm off to clean and get my kids fed and put down for a nap. Soon enough our lives are going to change. Right now, I'm going to enjoy these moments where it's just them and me, because soon enough, there's a man who is coming home, who will pretty much make our lives complete and the best part is, he wants to.

Love, love, love, Leah

Jan 10, 2011

I sit here, trying to find the words to explain what I feel at the moment and all I can come up with is hopeful, worried and in love. Over the past few days, I've been extremely worried about things, things concerning myself and my two children but today, today my amazing man promised me that he'd help me get things straightened out when he gets here and that soon enough I'll be leaving. He also reminded me that we have to go "Christmas" shopping when he gets back. He's even talked about going about an hour away to really make a day of it. I have never been so blessed as to have this amazing man in my life, this wonderful, sweet, charming man who in all reasoning should shake his head and walk away but stays with me, loving me from far away, helping me whenever he can, promising me a brighter future and holding onto that promise.

Today Social Service showed up to "inspect" and found nothing, as I knew they wouldn't but when they try I get worried. They left saying that they would call me. Good, bye. Right after they left, I got back online with my love and told him, he said he was glad nothing had happened and that the rest of their concerns would go away and he'd have my back (and my front and all the other soft places haha).

I am so blessed with him, it's ridiculous. I love him beyond all else and I can't wait to see him. Soon, very very soon

God bless!

thank you, 2010, for my Soldier

Dear World,

I can hardly believe that 2010 is over, that in an hour and a half, 2011 will be upon us. I am still amazed by the events of this past year.

This time last year, I was living in a completely different place, with a man who didn't deserve my love, nor loved me back. I had a dog, whom I miss so much and was so far from home, it hurt my heart daily. Then the year passed and and alot changed.

I met this man, this amazingly honorable and sweet man who although I didn't know it at the time, would piece my heart back together and give me so much hope and faith for a future full of love, happiness and peace. That together we could have a truly epic and lasting relationship. He encouraged me in whatever dreams came into my fancy as well as found a way to protect me from the hardships this world sometimes placed in my path.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed that one person would share my dreams, happiness and energy. I could never see his face, but he was always there and I always knew he was out there, somewhere, in the world, that I just needed to find him and feel his heart with mine. I visualized the bond we would have and the courage he would give me to endure life's obstacles. All these years, I was with others, feeling my way through life, learning lessons that would would prepare me to become the person that I am now. I have been hurt and abandoned, I have felt alone and sad. Then one day, my eyes opened and I was that little girl again, realizing that he was there, finally, at last. That in my world was the man that I had dreamed of and I'd hoped would not miss our meeting in life... and that man is my Captain, my heart, my everything.

In 2011, I shall start the year with the love of my life calling me (or skyping, I don't yet know which). We have talked about our plans for the year and our wishes. He told me that this year will be the best year of my life, and I hope he's right, because as long as he is in it, I believe that it will be. I love him, with all my heart and soul, for now and forever.

Love, Leah

PS. I also begin School on Monday and he comes home for r&r in just a couple weeks. I am so thrilled, my heart beats faster whenever I think on it.

May the best of last year be the worst of next.

Memorial Day, Saturday May 29, 2010

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of... being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived. - General George S. Patton

I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade.  I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.  I am an expert and I am a professional.

God Have Mercy on my enemies, because I won't ~ General George S. Patton

You showed me how I was supposed to Live then you showed me how to die ~ Toby Keith
It's hard missing my Daddy. A weekend full of condolences and kind words. Here's some of the sweetest.

If I'm even a sliver of the man your father was, I'll be a hell of a man.~ A Gunner in Iraq
I am keeping you in my thoughts, have your picture tucked in my pocket over my heart. I've got to go to work. Hooah!~ An Army Medic in Hemland Afghanistan
This weekend will never be about parties for you. It will always be sad, but just know that I have you in my prayers and that this weekend will always remind me of what you lost. Your Dad was a hero. ~A vet. Army Sgt in the states.
I am honoured to know you and wish you strength in carrying through a loss such as yours. You are in our thoughts here this weekend. A toast or ten will be made in your honor. ~A Vet Marine in the states.
and my personal favorite, the double edged sword.

I only met your dad a few times, he scared the hell out of me most of the time, but I always think about how much he loved you and how much he loved our Country... I know you miss him, he was your Daddy, how could you not? Just know I'm here, if you need to talk. I miss you, kiddo. ~ My childhood friend and current soldier in the Army deployed in Iraq.

I don't want to pretend this weekend is easy... But the outpouring of love, from so many that are in Warzones, so many that care... I'm touched and honoured by every word they say. My heart is broken but it's healing a little more every day, all because of those strong and Brave men, who fight for us everyday.

It's Memorial Day weekend. 7 months since my Dad's been gone, since he died in Service to the USAF. This weekend is meant to remember him... To remember what others like him have sacrificed for the security of all of us. whether we choose to accept it or not.

I keep crying. The truth is right now all I could use is a fucking hug. I could use my friend back, but I'm afraid to ask for his help, for anything, because I know his girlfriend would think I was trying something. but the truth is, he was there when I found out, and there's no one that could possibly know how badly it hurt me to lose him, how I instantly felt the most terrible pain of my life in that moment. And even though it's been months, maybe it's just the day...or rather what this weekend means. Memorial Day... To remember those that died during their service... But really, it just feels like the world is haunting me, like the pain is so deep within, sometimes, like right now, when I can't do anything but cry.
